Diseases of the Skeleto Muscular System
There are many diseases that can effect the skeleto muscular system. For example, Arthritis is an inflammation of one or more joints, which results in pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited movements. There are over 100 different types of arthritis. Tendonitis is an inflammation or irritation of a tendon, and is common around the shoulders, elbows, wrists, and heels. Osteoporosis is the most common type of bone disease. Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. You can stop and prevent Osteoporosis by not smoking, not drinking alcohol and caffeine. Your bones may break if you do not try to stop it. Osteoporosis is more common in the hip, spine, and wrists. Muscular Dystrophy (MD) means a group of more than 30 inherited diseases that cause muscle weakness and muscle loss. Some people who get MD get it when they are a baby or a kid, but some people get it when they are middle aged or later. MD gets worse when the person's muscles get weaker. In the course of MD most people lose the ability of walking. It is rare to have cancer starting in a bone, cancer usually spreads to the bones from another area in the body.
